The hardness of the tile is measured by its water absorption. Moreover, water absorption is the only distinction between ceramic and porcelain tile. Ceramic products with water absorption of 0.5% and lower are porcelain tiles. Therefore water absorption is the only technical value to determine a tile’s durability.
