Large Format Tile Guide: Expert Answers to Your Questions

Thinking about large format tiles and not sure where to start? Here are clear, practical answers to the most common questions we hear—so you can choose the right size, finish, and style with confidence.

Tile doesn’t take up space in your room like furniture does. It creates your floor.
The fewer pieces (bigger tiles) you use, the fewer grout lines you’ll see.
That’s why larger tiles make your room look cleaner, more open, and more modern, not small.

Rectified tiles allow for thinner grout joints — but they don’t reduce how many grout lines you’ll have.
Tile size determines grout line count. Bigger tiles = fewer pieces = fewer lines.

Whether polished or matte, most interior porcelain tiles offer similar slip resistance. Design is the real difference: Matte finishes feel more organic and modern, while polished tiles bring luxury and elegance. What’s your style?

There isn’t a tile made specifically for kitchen floors.
Whether it’s polished or matte, simply use caution when the surface is wet.
