Where to Use This Tile, and How Tile Finishes Work
Porcelain tile can be used as floor or wall tile in almost any interior room, except for shower pans. Once installed, porcelain tiles are waterproof, frost-resistant, and heat-resistant. Porcelain tiles are also excellent choices for exterior walls.
Standard matte, satin, and polished finishes usually have similar slip-resistance levels unless the tile is specifically rated as an In & Out or Grip finish.
For pool areas, a Grip finish is preferred. For outdoor areas that may get wet, an In & Out finish is usually the better choice. However, any wet surface can become slippery depending on the angle, speed, amount of water, and how the area is used, so caution is always required.
A DCOF rating above 0.42 is considered the beginning level of slip resistance. Tiles with more surface friction usually attract more dirt and dust, which is why they are generally preferred for outdoor areas.

Its design consists of natural stone like movements on a silver color background with grey undertones. Lithium Silver is a modern tile inspired by traditional limestone and It’s one of TAU’s most successful designs that sell worldwide.
Lithium Silver porcelain tile comes with 14 Faces
Before the inkjet technology, porcelain tiles were available with one print that repeated on every single tile. Therefore, the installer had to flip the tiles around to break the monotony. Besides, the print looked blurry. So, a tile looked very much like a tile in those days.
Today, along with high-definition graphics, another great feature that inkjet technology provided to the industry, is multiple graphics(faces) for the porcelain tile to look like the real material with minimum repeat. While face number on wood planks is high, large tiles usually available with 6 to 8 faces. When it comes to TAU, one of the many reasons that separate this manufacturer, the number of faces on the large tiles is 14 or 15. Such a high number makes it very hard for the eye to catch the repeat on print and increase the resemblance.
Porcelain is a product of ceramic with stronger mass. Its density is measured with its water absorption levels. A” dry pressed ceramic tile with water absorption ≤0.5″ label is the indicator of porcelain tiles. ASTM C1027 is often misused as PEI and most people are under the impression that PEI indicates the tile’s quality. Indeed, ASTM C1027 measures the visual abrasion of the glaze.
ASTM C1027.19 (2019 edition) recommends the following classes
- Class5: Heavy Commercial: suitable for intense commercial and all residential.
- Class4: Commercial: suitable for medium commercial and all residential.
- Class3: Heavy Residential, Light Commercial; suitable for all residential, average abrasion.
However, for commercial floors unglazed through-body or double-charged tiles are more suitable.
