Light Beige Marble Is Becoming Trendy Again

Light beige marble used to be the most popular flooring choice for a very long period of time. Earth tones was the single word to define American style interiors.

Then, we became greyer. Since the second half of last year, we’ve been seeing that earth tones are getting popular again.

You may have heard stories about how hard is to maintain the marble. Unfortunately, many contractors made a bad habit of installing marble tiles without grout in recent years allowing hairline gaps between the tiles. Those tiny gaps that are prone to mold and mildew are the culprit. When installed properly, marble doesn’t change color and it last forever with a little maintenance.

Where to Use This Tile, and How Tile Finishes Work

Porcelain tile can be used as floor or wall tile in almost any interior room, except for shower pans. Once installed, porcelain tiles are waterproof, frost-resistant, and heat-resistant. Porcelain tiles are also excellent choices for exterior walls.

Standard matte, satin, and polished finishes usually have similar slip-resistance levels unless the tile is specifically rated as an In & Out or Grip finish.

For pool areas, a Grip finish is preferred. For outdoor areas that may get wet, an In & Out finish is usually the better choice. However, any wet surface can become slippery depending on the angle, speed, amount of water, and how the area is used, so caution is always required.

A DCOF rating above 0.42 is considered the beginning level of slip resistance. Tiles with more surface friction usually attract more dirt and dust, which is why they are generally preferred for outdoor areas.
