Altamura Ash is a dark grey limestone look porcelain tile designed for interiors where depth and sophistication are desired. Its deep grey background creates a strong and elegant surface, while subtle dirty-white micro-veins appear naturally in selected areas of the tile. These delicate veins do not run consistently across the entire surface. Instead, they appear sporadically, similar to the natural fractures often found in limestone, giving the tile a calm and authentic stone appearance.
Where to Use This Tile, and How Tile Finishes Work
Porcelain tile can be used as floor or wall tile in almost any interior room, except for shower pans. Once installed, porcelain tiles are waterproof, frost-resistant, and heat-resistant. Porcelain tiles are also excellent choices for exterior walls.
Standard matte, satin, and polished finishes usually have similar slip-resistance levels unless the tile is specifically rated as an In & Out or Grip finish.
For pool areas, a Grip finish is preferred. For outdoor areas that may get wet, an In & Out finish is usually the better choice. However, any wet surface can become slippery depending on the angle, speed, amount of water, and how the area is used, so caution is always required.
A DCOF rating above 0.42 is considered the beginning level of slip resistance. Tiles with more surface friction usually attract more dirt and dust, which is why they are generally preferred for outdoor areas.
