Where to Use This Tile, and How Tile Finishes Work

Porcelain tile can be used as floor or wall tile in almost any interior room, except for shower pans. Once installed, porcelain tiles are waterproof, frost-resistant, and heat-resistant. Porcelain tiles are also excellent choices for exterior walls. Standard matte, satin, and polished finishes usually have similar slip-resistance levels unless the tile is specifically rated as an In & Out or Grip finish. For pool areas, a Grip finish is preferred. For outdoor areas that may get wet, an In & Out finish is usually the better choice. However, any wet surface can become slippery depending on the angle, speed, amount of water, and how the area is used, so caution is always required. A DCOF rating above 0.42 is considered the beginning level of slip resistance. Tiles with more surface friction usually attract more dirt and dust, which is why they are generally preferred for outdoor areas.

Wood Finish Tile Kera Grey Durability

Ceramic tiles with water absorption of 0.5% and lower are categorized as porcelain tiles. Therefore water absorption is what indicates the hardness of the porcelain tile. Wood Finish Tile Kera Grey comes with water absorption of 5.1% or below, and It’s a true porcelain tile. Most ceramic and porcelain tiles are glazed products. PEI is an abrasion test that indicates the wear and tear of the glazed surface on a scale from 1 to 5.  A PEI3 porcelain tile will last much longer than a PEI4 ceramic tile. Wood Finish Tile Kera Grey’s PEI value is 4. The recommended PEI  for residential surfaces is 3, for commercial surfaces is 4. Unlike what most people think: PEI 5 is for extreme foot areas such as malls or airports.

All porcelain tiles are made within the PEI 3-4 rate, and besides the residential, they are also good for commercial areas.

However, the quality of the setting materials and the installation can increase or lower the durability of the porcelain floors more than ANY PEI OR WATER ABSORPTION VALUE.
