An American classic, subway tile is now available in the popular dark gray color. The simple brick pattern of this popular style can surprisingly suit all types of interiors. It can be upscale or cozy. It can be a country or a beachy style. You name it! All you need to do is find the right color to suit your interiors.

Dark gray subway tile comes in the 4×12 size, which is 2.67 times bigger than traditional 3×6 subway tiles. Today, the rising trend is larger pieces for walls and floors for their clean-cut look. Even though the grout around the tiles is a part of this subway look, larger pieces can still complete this traditional style while reducing the grout and helping with faster installation.

Design With Dark Gray Subway Tile.

You can use the Dark Gray Subway tile for a kitchen backsplash, shower, or bathroom walls. You can also design a bar area in your living or dining room with these tiles. Subway tiles are also very much in demand when creating commercial spaces. A 4×12 size subway tile can add an up-to-date look to your design.

Ceramic tiles tend to have brighter colors compared to porcelain tiles. Therefore, subway tiles are usually made from ceramic, like most decorative tiles. Some subway tiles are made from marble or glass too. However, the classical style is ceramic. If you are designing a bathroom or a kitchen backsplash and you want to add this classic look to your style in a color other than white, you may want to browse through our tiles that we price lower than everybody.

How to Find How Many Pieces Are in a Square Foot

Tiles that are smaller than 1 sq. ft. are priced per piece. To find the square-foot price of a small tile, first, you need to know how many pieces are in a square foot and multiply that by the price.

To do so, you have to multiply the width and the length. For example, 3×6 = 18. Then divide 144 by that number: 144/18 = 8.

That means there are eight pieces of 3×6 tile in a square foot. If a piece costs, let’s say, 69 cents, the price per square foot is 8 x 0.69 = $5.52. That tile that you thought was a great deal is expensive.

When buying a subway tile, nine out of ten times, the origin is unknown. However, our subway tiles are imported from Yurtbay in Turkey to offer quality, even when selling the most basic subway tile.

Where to Use This Tile, and How Tile Finishes Work

Porcelain tile can be used as floor or wall tile in almost any interior room, except for shower pans. Once installed, porcelain tiles are waterproof, frost-resistant, and heat-resistant. Porcelain tiles are also excellent choices for exterior walls.

Standard matte, satin, and polished finishes usually have similar slip-resistance levels unless the tile is specifically rated as an In & Out or Grip finish.

For pool areas, a Grip finish is preferred. For outdoor areas that may get wet, an In & Out finish is usually the better choice. However, any wet surface can become slippery depending on the angle, speed, amount of water, and how the area is used, so caution is always required.

A DCOF rating above 0.42 is considered the beginning level of slip resistance. Tiles with more surface friction usually attract more dirt and dust, which is why they are generally preferred for outdoor areas.
